In July of 2001, during a visit to New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, I became fascinated by the combination of metal and fabric in Japanese armor. The combination of the two to protect oneself touched me deeply. This series started with the creation of the center of the Copper Diamond and experimenting with incorporating it into traditional quilt designs.
